1986 Mazda RX7 rallycross car
This 1986 RX7 was built as a road race car in Alaska about 20 years ago, then it was relocated to El Paso Texas where it was transformed into an autocross car. The front half of the Autopower roll cage was removed along with a lot of other weight reduction. I bought it from a friend in 2019 intending on running hill climbs around Washington the next year, but then 2020 happened. I took the autocross parts off and prepped it for Modified RWD Rallycross, which is a lot more fun anyway. Car has been stored inside and is in great condition, and has seen almost zero street use over the last 10 years or so.

Car weighed 2080 with heavy street wheels on it before the Rallycross conversion. Rally tires are heavy too and I had to add a few things, but Id guess it still weighs around 2100 ish. 

Ran it at NWRAs Rallycross Fest in 2025, and finished 7th overall out of 200+ cars and this was the fastest 2wd car. In-car videos from each course:

- Mostly stock 13b, no porting but the oil injection is removed so it runs premix. 
- 5-lug conversion on all 4 corners, with 4 piston front calipers 
- gutted doors, gutted interior, gutted everything for weight reduction 
- de-powered power steering rack with an electric assist column from epowersteering.com 
- Flatout GR40 coilovers with a dual rate spring setup
- Corksport aluminum radiator, and a custom aluminum skid plate to protect it
- Aluminum sunroof delete panel with a vent
- 4mm hard-coated lexan windows from Plastics4Performance
- Sparco Evo2 race seat on sliders
- uninstalled spare parts include headlights and a lightweight plastic rear hatch

Car is in Lake Stevens WA but I live in Alaska, so some coordination will be needed to come look at it. Available at or after SCCA RallyCross Nationals October 16-18.
